About me
Background and Experience
I began my career in School Counselling, working with children, adolescent, and undergraduates and postgraduates in schools, junior colleges and a local university. The later part of my career was in a private psychiatric clinic where I worked mainly with adults with differing mental health issues. My clients comprised both local Singaporeans and expatriates residing and working in Singapore. My current practice primarily focuses on adults, 18 years and above. I welcome clients for both short-term and long-term work, and I am committed to inclusivity - embracing people from all communities and identities. I personally believe that each person brings a unique history, aspirations, and challenges, and my therapeutic role is to facilitate healing in a way that will build on their personal strengths.
Therapy Approach
For the past 10 over years, my work has been focused on EMDR therapy which is my primary modality. I have worked with many adults with histories of abuse and neglect, attachment issues and the effects of early deficits. Alongside with EMDR, I use Developing a Secure Self, an attachment-based approach to help clients with early deficits that are associated with childhood histories of neglect, emotional abuse and attachment issues to directly address these issues which cannot be resolved simply by reprocessing trauma. With both components, they aim to help clients to restore a sense of dignity as a human person and develop a more secure sense of self.
